Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Climate Action Plan Engagement
The Department of Environmental Protection seeks meaningful input from stakeholders across Pennsylvania as they establish carbon emission reduction goals and chart a path to achieve it.
evolveEA has provided advisory services to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) in support of the PA Act 70 Climate Action Plan as an appointee to the Climate Change Advisory Committee since 2015, and every three years thereafter for each plan update. The Plan outlines a pathway to reach Pennsylvania’s greenhouse gas reduction goals and identifies sources of carbon emissions in the state, strategies to reduce carbon emissions, the economic argument, and emissions reduction projections for each strategy. ICF is the prime consultant for the PA Act 70 Climate Action Plan.
In 2023 the state was awarded a federal Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) to develop a climate action plan that builds upon the foundation of the Act 70 CAP, in order to be eligible for federal implementation grants. The CPRG CAP will include a deeper focus on industry and the impacts of climate pollution and climate actions on low income and disadvantaged communities.
In collaboration with ICF, evolveEA is providing stakeholder and community engagement services in support of the Pennsylvania CPRG CAP. The CPRG engagement includes a StoryMap that communicates climate impacts, an overview of the climate action plan, and solicits feedback on proposed measures and strategies. Stakeholder input will inform the distillation of climate actions, prioritization, and will provide insights into how climate action will impact the lives of Pennsylvanians.
