Sarine Sahakian
LEED GA

Sarine believes her role as a designer and planner is to listen to people and understand their needs in order to make cities healthier places for people to live, whether that’s through access to mobility and housing or good urban design. Her work at evolveEA addresses the built environment at different scales from the detail of benches at a light rail station, station area plans along the East Busway, neighborhood development, to corridor and transit system-wide planning and engagement. Her professional background includes planning large-scale neighborhoods and infrastructure systems in the UAE, authoring streetscape design guidelines for the Municipality of Ras Al Khaimah (UAE), and designing residential and educational buildings in Beirut, Lebanon. Whether in the Middle East or the US, Sarine frequently works in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams and believes that each city, community, and team brings its unique blend of values, knowledge, and goals.

Sarine received her Master of Urban Design from the University of Colorado – Denver as a Fulbright Scholar, and holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the American University of Beirut. She also recently completed a professional Master of Science in Project Management from Harrisburg University of Science and Technology where she gained tools and knowledge to merge the creativity of the design field with the set structure of management. She is a member of both the American Planners Association (APA) and the Urban Planning Association at the Order of Engineers and Architects (OEA) in Beirut, where she is also a registered architect, and she is a LEED Green Associate.
