Christine is an eternal optimist regarding the power of design in shaping an inspiring and sustainable environment. Christine has been active in shaping places, processes and organizations in the US and around the world through her work as an architect, educator, and activist.Â
As Strategic Principal of evolveEA, Christine brings integrative solutions to complex systems such as housing, water and energy infrastructure, and transportation systems. She is passionate about quality design in the public realm and her work includes nationally recognized architecture that celebrates public life, ecodistricts and neighborhood plans, city comprehensive plans, green infrastructure landscapes, and waterfront park systems. Christine’s architecture, planning, and landscapes have received national awards from the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the American Planning Association, and the American Society of Landscape Architects and been published nationally and internationally.
Christine teaches architecture, urban design, and ecology at Carnegie Mellon University and has been an invited lecturer and guest critic at many institutions. She supports organizations that promote design and the environment. She currently chairs the board of the nonprofit Riverlife, and is Pennsylvania’s representative to the AIA College of Fellows. She has served as a member of the Global Ecodistricts Protocol Advisory Committee, Penn State University Stuckeman School Advisory Board, the chair of the Pittsburgh City Planning Commission, and chair of Green Building Alliance Board.Â
Christine studied at Harvard University, Carnegie Mellon University, and the Denmark Institute of Study. Christine is a registered architect, a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, and a LEED Accredited Professional.
