“Completing the Loop” Wins AIA National Award for Urban Design

evolve environment :: architecture and Riverlife were honored by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for the “Completing the Loop” plan, which outlines a 10-year vision to connect, enhance, and expand Pittsburgh’s network of riverfront parks, trails, and public green spaces.

Mussels Matter: Exploring Restoration Design for Freshwater Mussels

Designers should embrace an expanded role in aquatic wildlife restoration to link our natural and built environments, benefitting multiple species and better connecting people to nature. When thinking about ecological assets, the freshwater mussel should be at the forefront of the discussion.

Greenways for Pittsburgh 2.0

In 2017, evolveEA led a refresh of the Greenways for Pittsburgh plan first developed in 1980. Through extensive research, community engagement, a review of existing greenway programs, and a series of workshops with various City Departments, the team developed a policy guide with recommendations to improve policies around the stewardship, design, development, and management of greenways in the City.

Riverlife Pittsburgh

evolveEA was engaged by Riverlife to lead the Completing the Loop effort, identifying projects and programs needed to complete and enhance the loop of parks and trails around Pittsburgh's riverfronts. The report will guide Riverlife in carrying out their initial vision for a connected network of green spaces accessible to all.

Ice House Studios Courtyard

Starting with the imperative of controlling rainwater flow, evolveEA's interdisciplinary approach to the Ice House Building Courtyard included landscape design, hardscaping, roofing, plumbing, green roof and structural elements for the public art space.

Living Waters of Larimer

Living Waters of Larimer is a community development project that demonstrates how green infrastructure can be integrated into the urban spaces, cultural life, and economic infrastructure of a community.
