Moving Forest Hills Forward

We discovered that Forest Hills is not just a beautiful hidden gem—it’s a community of curious, imaginative, and optimistic people who care deeply about our neighborhood and its potential.”

Sustainability, Resilience, InnovationEnergy, Mobility, Food, Water, Air, EquityIn 2024, after years of careful planning, the
Forest Hills Community Alliance (FHCA) launched the Forest Hills Forward program in collaboration with evolveEA. This multi-year, resident-driven engagement and planning effort, worked to develop a collaborative vision and supporting projects and action plan to shape the future
of Forest Hills.

Using an ecodistricts-inspired approach that builds on the community’s robust existing initiatives, the residents of Forest Hills were asked to imagine a future for their community through six, key quality-of-life areas and the lenses of sustainability, resilience, and innovation.

Informed by conversations with more than 150 residents, the Forest Hills Forward Vision Plan highlights three bold goals to reduce the community’s greenhouse gas emissions, manage economic forces to provide opportunity, and foster community culture and identity:

Guided by evolveEA, these goals chart a shared path forward—one rooted in community vision, ecological stewardship, and a strong sense of place. The Vision Plan builds on Forest Hills’ ongoing commitment to sustainability, aligns municipal goals, and amplifies the voices of those who call this community home. The future of Forest Hills is not only resilient and inclusive—it’s something we’re building together.
